Nirvana - In UteroReleased in 1993Track ListingServe The Servants Scentless Apprentice Heart-Shaped Box Rape Me Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle Dumb Very Ape Milk It Pennyroyal Tea Radio Friendly Unit Shifter Tourette's All ApologiesWhat's this I hear? No... It can't really be Cobain... bashing fame?! :O Yup. Apparently, getting famous wasn't all that it was cracked up to be and ol' brain-dead wants out of it. And pretty much all of his songs deal with that. " Serve The Servants" in particular. Which is fine. It's kind of interesting to hear Kurt complain in his strange, twisted poetry. And you know, as much as I absolutely hate to say it, ol' Kurt is the Jim Morrison of the 90's. Yup. Just not as sexy. Anyway, I'm getting off-track again. When it comes to musical content, In Utero probably isn't the most accessible Nirvana album(we'll leave that to Nevermind), but this is the most mature and most rewarding one. You'll probably like it even if you don't exactly like grunge. I don't like grunge and I like this. But in a way, this feels like a re-recording of Nevermind in its essence, but this is what it would've sounded like if it were in lieu of Bleach. What makes me say that? A lot of the songs sound really similar(take "Rape Me" for example. Doesn't it kind of sound like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to you? It's just the vocal melodies differ). Well, I don't know. It does sound like it, but I'm not willing to pull out Nevermind right now and point out the particulars. But just because they're improving upon an older album isn't bad it all. It sounds loads better, and just as weird. It's definitely not as radio-oriented and kind of rejects the whole mainstream approach of Nevermind. That's great, meine Freundin. I don't have much else to say about In Utero itself, but when I listen to this album, I'm always drawing comparisons to the Pixies. Yeah. When I hear this, I'm always thinking, "Hey! There's a Pixies bit!" or, "Hey! Been trying to meet you..."(did you get the joke? Ha ha ha). But I digress. All-in-all, this is without a doubt Nirvana's best album and the only one that I'll recommend to you. Interesting cuts include: "Heart-Shaped Box"A-
